Research Project is studied in Year 11 at Mitcham Girls High School. Students must complete the Research Project with a moderated grade of C- or better. The Research Project is a SACE Stage 2 subject and can contribute to a student’s ATAR.

Students choose a research question based in an area of interest. They use the research framework as a guide to develop their research and to apply knowledge and skills specific to their research topic, and at least one of the seven capabilities of the SACE.

The four parts of the research framework are:

• Initiating, planning and managing the research
• Developing and analysing the research
• Producing and substantiating the research outcome
• Evaluating the research

The research may include practical or technical investigations, formal research or exploratory enquiries.
