How to Enrol
Enrolments
Thank you for considering Mitcham Girls High School for your student’s enrolment. We are thrilled to be considered as part of your student’s educational journey.
Students in Year 6 who are currently enrolled in a government primary school will apply for high school through the state-wide transition process, which begins in Term 2 of Year 6.
As part of this process, families may nominate up to three government high schools, listed in order of preference.
If your child attends a non-government primary school and you would like them considered for entry to a government high school, you will need to:
Complete the Registration of Interest form below (to register directly with our school), and
Register your interest with the Department for Education by emailing:
Education.startingsecondaryschool@sa.gov.au
We encourage families to complete both steps to ensure their child is included in the transition process.

- Please complete the Registration of Interest Form below. Our Enrolments Officer will contact you by email to guide you through each enrolment step. In this initial phase, they will ask further questions about your student, such as for a copy of their most recent report, the reason for their transfer, if they know any students at MGHS, visa information, and if there are any medical, wellbeing, or curriculum supports required for your student.
- The enrolment enquiry will be sent to the relevant Assistant Principal for review. Applications will be considered based on siblings at the school, the distance of the child’s residence from the school, transportation/location convenience, social/family links and any other personal needs such as curriculum. Mitcham Girls High School accepts enrolments as capacity allows.
- The Assistant Principal may request an interview to meet with your student, particularly if they are wishing to transfer in senior years.
- If Mitcham Girls High School is able to offer your student a place, you will receive an Offer of Enrolment by email. You will be asked to complete an enrolment form, as well as supply copies of your students ID and proof of residence (please note we are an unzoned school). You will additionally be given a student profile survey to complete your student’s subject selections, as well as consent forms.
