Mitcham Girls High School

Other Leadership Opportunities

Throughout the school year, Mitcham Girls High School offers students the opportunities to be leaders in their areas of interest.  Whether that is as captain of a debating team or a soccer team, a member of the Sustainability Group, an instigator of the 40 Hour Famine or the director of the school play.

It is inspiring to see the students step up to the challenge, in many cases taking the opportunity to create new leadership opportunities for themselves.  Whether in an official or unofficial role, every Mitcham girl is given the chance to lead and the chance to shine.

Year 7 Intake

The Department for Education has short-listed Mitcham Girls High School as a potential pilot school to ‘Lead the Way’ and offer Year 7 in a high school setting from 2020. We have been shortlisted because of our focus in progressive approaches to quality teaching and learning, our safe and supportive environment and our extensive transition program. Participation in the pilot is voluntary, therefore whether the pilot program goes ahead is dependent on the number of parents who register an interest for their current Year 6 children to enrol at Mitcham Girls High School in 2020. Registrations of Interest to Enrol close on 24 May 2019.
