STEM ACADEMY - Year 7 pilot program, Semester 2, 2026

Mitcham Girls High School STEM Academy is a strategic initiative for students, designed to increase girls participation, confidence, and leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The school fosters a culture of equity, excellence, and empowerment that enables students to participate in and lead the STEM fields shaping Australia’s future.

The Mitcham Girls High School STEM Academy will deliver a structured, multi-year program of learning and engagement designed to build awareness, skills, and career readiness in STEM fields.Through a sequence of authentic, hands-on, and industry-informed learning experiences, the Academy will inform and inspire students to explore STEM career pathways, including those in defence, health, and engineering.

  • Design thinking in action where you will work through real-world problems through inquiry-driven design thinking processes.
  • Immersive, hands-on learning with practical STEM experiences in areas like robotics, electrotechnology, and data science, connected to real-world contexts.
