In the lead up, students practiced formative skills that they could choose to apply according to their strengths. These skills included making buttercream icing to practice piping and creating a smooth outer layer of their cake, stacking their cake to create an even surface, dyeing and shaping fondant to create figurines, making meringues and chocolate work. The students enjoyed this assignment as it allowed them to be creative and work with equipment that they haven't used before, helping them to extend their knowledge and skills for future learning in Food Technology at MGHS.
