Mitcham Girls High School

COVID-19 Update - 27 July 2021

27-Jul-21Information regarding the return to school on 28 July 2021 following Lockdown.

Today the Premier announced that schools, preschools and children’s centres will reopen to all students tomorrow (Wednesday 28 July).

As a result, Mitcham Girls High School will be open.

We will not be offering an alternative home-based learning program unless your child is impacted by SA Health quarantine orders.

As the Chief Public Health Officer stated, just because the hard lockdown is being lifted does not mean that the risks associated with COVID-19 have passed.

As a result, we will:

  • minimise the number of people coming and going from our site. Wherever possible, please drop and collect your child at the gate and maintain the appropriate physical distance from other adults
  • postpone all school events, interschool sport, excursions and camps for the next week
  • require all staff and students in years 7 and above to wear masks when indoors, on public transport or on school buses. We note that departmental advice currently states that only students in Yr 8 and above wear masks, however, as a high school, we ask all Year 7’s to participate. Please note that staff will not have to wear masks while teaching or working directly with students.

Students can wear their own cloth masks. We also have supplies of surgical masks available if they need them.

Your child might have questions about wearing masks. It’s important we continue to follow SA Health advice and your continued cooperation is greatly appreciated as we help students and staff with this necessary change.

Thank you very much for your support during the lockdown. We look forward to having your child back at school tomorrow.
