Our aim is to strengthen the Home-School partnership through offering guidance and support to parents and students by keeping you up to date with the school’s preparation for the Year 7 to HS Pilot.
Over the past month (August) the Leadership Team has met with all Year 6 students who have enrolled in Year 7 for 2020 which has provided us with an insight into the needs and interests of our future students. We thank parents and students for taking the time to meet with one or more members of our staff to introduce themselves and ask questions. If you would like to discuss the Pilot and/or receive further information, please consider the following:
Extensive planning has gone into planning for the upcoming transition days. There are two transitions days in Term 4:
Wednesday 6 November, 9:15am - 2:15pm A Day in the Life of a Mitcham Girl
Wednesday 4 December, 9:15am – 4:30pm Nuts and Bolts
Year 7 Jacket
We have collated the sizes and an order has been placed for the Year 7 jackets. These will be presented to students at the Induction Assembly to be held at the conclusion of the second Transition Day on 4 December.
There has been a change of plan in relation to the venue hosting the Year 7 camp. Students will now be travelling to the CU@Wallaroo campsite in the coastal town of Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula.
The Year 7 Camp will be an essential part of our transition program. As our students come from such a large number of primary schools, the camp plays an important role in enabling students to feel part of the school as quickly as possible. The activities will look at developing friendships, cooperating in group situations, the culture of the school and relationships. House Captain and SRC elections are also held during this time.
Given the size of the Year 7 cohort, it will be necessary to conduct two camps in 2020 which will be held early in Term 1.
More information regarding the Year 7 camp will be distributed on the first Transition Day on Wednesday 6 November.
