Our aim is to strengthen the Home-School partnership through offering guidance and support to parents and students by keeping you up to date with the school’s preparation for the Year 7 to HS Pilot.
In Term 3 the Leadership Team has met with all Year 6 students who have enrolled in Year 7 for 2020 which has provided us with an insight into the needs and interests of our future students. We thank parents and students for taking the time to meet with one or more members of our staff to introduce themselves and ask questions. If you would like to discuss the Pilot and/or receive further information, please consider the following:
First Day of School Term 1, 2020
We trust you have been enjoying your holidays and that you are excited to embark on the new chapter in your life at Mitcham Girls High School!
With only just over two weeks until Term 1 commences some of you may be wondering about your first day at your new school. School will commence on Tuesday 28 January, the day after the long weekend. On this day, only Middle School students will be on the site. Year 7 students assemble in the school gymnasium at 8:40am in full school uniform. The day will begin with a short welcome before students move into their Care Groups. There will be no formal lessons on this day, instead students will spend this time getting to know their Care Group teacher and their peers. They will also be allocated a locker and given their timetable.
On the first day, students are to bring their stationery kit and student diary to school. There will be extended recess and lunch times on the first day to allow students more time to mingle with their peers and explore the school grounds. Canteen facilities will also be available.
Students will begin going to normal lessons on Wednesday 29 January, after recess. Also remember that school is dismissed at 3:15pm each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 2:25pm each Wednesday.
Year 7 Camp
As the camp fast approaching, it is important that students return their camp forms as soon as possible so we can finalise numbers for catering and transport purposes. Students will be provided with a list of what to pack in Week 1 and accommodation will be allocated in Week 2.
