Our aim is to strengthen the Home-School partnership through offering guidance and support to parents and students by keeping you up to date with the school’s preparation for the Year 7 to HS Pilot.
In Term 3 the Leadership Team has met with all Year 6 students who have enrolled in Year 7 for 2020 which has provided us with an insight into the needs and interests of our future students. We thank parents and students for taking the time to meet with one or more members of our staff to introduce themselves and ask questions. If you would like to discuss the Pilot and/or receive further information, please consider the following:
Thank you to all the students and parents who attended our first Transition Day on Wednesday 6 November. The day was a great success with students experiencing a day in the life of a Mitcham girl. Students spent the day sampling a variety of subjects offered whilst making connections with potential 2020 teachers and Peer Leaders. It was great to see so many smiling faces in the yard during recess and lunch with students stepping outside of their comfort zones to make new friends. We hope you found the day to be beneficial and that you are excited for what is to come!
If you wish to purchase a School Recommended Device (SRD) and require logon details to access the SRD Portal, please contact the Business Manager, Chris Stone on 8272 8233 or email email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you all again in Week 8 for our second Transition Day on Wednesday 4 December from 9:15am and 4:30pm. The day will run as follows:
Please note that students who wish to swim at the Pool Party will need to return the aquatics permission form that was recently emailed out to parents.
We have collated the sizes and an order has been placed for the Year 7 jackets. These will be presented to students at the Induction Assembly to be held at the conclusion of the second Transition Day on 4 December.
There has been a change of plan in relation to the venue hosting the Year 7 camp. Students will now be travelling to the CU@Wallaroo campsite in the coastal town of Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula.
The Year 7 Camp will be an essential part of our transition program. As our students come from such a large number of primary schools, the camp plays an important role in enabling students to feel part of the school as quickly as possible. The activities will look at developing friendships, cooperating in group situations, the culture of the school and relationships. House Captain and SRC elections are also held during this time.
Given the size of the Year 7 cohort, it will be necessary to conduct two camps in 2020 which will be held early in Term 1.
