Parental Involvement

Parents are essential partners with the school in ensuring that their daughters receive the maximum advantage from their years of secondary schooling.

Mitcham Girls High School offers many avenues for involvement and participation. We welcome and value parental involvement in their daughter's education and in the life of the school.

Enquiries are welcome at any time, as are requests to discuss your daughter's progress or concerns regarding her education.

Twice a term our Newsletter, What, When & Why, is published to keep the school community informed of school activities, community events and relevant educational issues.

Communication regarding student progress takes place throughout the year in the form of phone calls, diary notes, letters and parent teacher interviews.

Parent Information Evenings

There are a series of information evenings held throughout the year. They include a welcome to Year 8 parents, year level meetings, SACE information evenings, GifT parent meetings, parent/teacher interviews and subject counselling.

Parent Volunteer Groups

The Governing Council operates a well equipped canteen. The canteen manager is supported by parents and student volunteer helpers. The canteen provides a wide range of nutritious foods at competitive prices. The canteen is open before school (7:30 - 8:30am) and at recess and lunch times.  If you would like to help, please contact the canteen manager on 8272 8233.

The Resource Centre
The Resource Centre welcomes help on a regular or occasional basis. There are many tasks that support our work, ranging from book covering to using computers.

Sports Coaching
Parents with sports skills are invited to coach, or assist with the coaching of, our school's sports teams.
